Gates of the Old City

Built in 1538 by the Ottoman Empire, the current walls of the Old City stretch for approximately 4.5 kilometres.  Although there are 11 gates to the city, only seven are actually presently open.  They are, The Damascus Gate, The Zion Gate, The Jaffa Gate, The Lion's Gate, The New Gate, The Herod's Gate, The Dung Gate and the Mercy Gate.
